At an early date, the company became the first in Japan to succeed in the practical application of acetone butanol fermentation, a groundbreaking development that set the stage for subsequent research-driven breakthroughs incorporating its signature approach: the organic fusion of fermentation (biotechnology) and synthesis (chemical technology).
