In 1956, we successfully mass-produced glutamic acid - the key ingredient in the manufacture of "umami" seasoning. This was achieved by a breakthrough in the fermentation process, the first time that this technology had ever been developed and used anywhere in the world. Since then, we have produced a wide range of industrial-use seasonings including savory seasonings manufactured using fermentation, hydrolysis and extraction technologies, and brewed seasonings which take advantage of our expertise in brewing technology. Our subsidiary Kyowa FD Foods manufactures and sells some freeze-dried products such as Tamago Soup (egg drop soup) which is maintained both the flavor and texture of the ingredient
